Catherine Bosk (1941-) works in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Her background includes formal training at University of California, San Diego; San Diego State University; and Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino, CA. She has been featured on CBS affiliate series "Artist in Action"; was awarded first place in the Decorative Artist competition sponsored by Decorative Artist Workbook, Cincinnati, OH; has a piece in the Smithsonian permanent collection; and participated as well as demonstrated for Art in Bloom, Museum of Fine Art, Boston, MA. Blue Swirl was selected for exhibition at Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE.
Her painting is a process of bringing together visual experiences and memories by using color, form, and light. Using plein air and photo references for inspiration, the painting evolves. Most of the work is abstract or semiabstract in an effort to evoke an emotional response. Lines and textures intrigue as their pictorial language builds the rhythm and flow of each painting freely and indepently.
