Michael Brock

Michael Brock was born in Pennsylvania in 1946. He has resided in Delaware since 1972 and lives with his wife, Lynn and their children in Newark, Delaware.

A self-taught artist, he has been painting and selling his work since 1964. Several years of flying helicopters for the military, including gunships in Vietnam, appeared to have changed Michael's attention from art to aviation. However, in 1975 his first new work was selected in a juried exhibit at the Delaware Art Museum. Since then he has endeavored to further his painting skills, working primarily in oils on canvas.

In 1980 Michael was given his first one-man show at the Chadds Ford Gallery. He has subsequently exhibited in other one man and group exhibitions. His paintings hang in many corporate and private collections, including the White House. In April 1998 he was awarded third place and in April 2000 was awarded second place in the Ward Foundation World Painting Competition. In 2002 he was awarded the Bayard T. Berndt Artist Achievement Award at the Goodstay Center Evening of Art.

In March 2007, Michael was the honored artist at the Annual Art & Antiques Show at the Hagley Museum, Wilmington, Delaware.

A Brandywine influence is reflected in Michael's landscapes, still lifes and aviation paintings, with a dramatic style prominent in his depiction of wildlife. Whatever the subject, the final impression on canvas is accomplished in a sensitive and competent manner.
