Corien Siepeligna was born in the Netherlands, and grew up in Ontario, Canada. While in Canada she obtained her Bachelor's of Science degree in nursing from Queens University in Kingston Ontario, and began her career as a critical care nurse. She then married her husband John and had two children. As a result of her husband's employment with Dupont she has had the opportunity to live in several different cities in Ontario and Texas prior to settling in Avondale, Pennsylvania.
She began drawing for the first time in 2000 shortly after relocating from Canada to Victoria, Texas. Being new in town and having two small children, she decided to take up drawing as a hobby to keep busy in the evenings. She taught herself to draw using books from the local library. She later moved to Orange Texas and continued her studies using books from the library there. Her children and their friends were her favorite subjects. After moving to Pennsylvania in 2005 she had the opportunity to study drawing and oil painting more extensively with Neilson Carlin at Studio Rilievo in Kennett Square. While studying her art she continued to work as a critical care nurse, but in the last year she has been working on her art full time. She works predominantly with oils to create still life paintings and children's portraits.
